Employment Empowerment Seminars
LINK offers the following services as a member of the SSA employment network:
CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES
This service begins the employment process. Staff person helps the job seeker identify skills,
talents,and abilities for employment. Staff person helps the job seeker set career goals,identify areas
for improvement and resources to help build missing skills or abilities. Staff person helps job seeker coordinate
services to enhance changes for successful employment. Staff person will remain available to the job seeker after
employment and help with any employment issues that arises.
CAREER CONSULTING SERVICES
Job Search Assistance
Staff person advises the job seeker about skills and tends to resume writing and interview preparation. This service
may be one-on-one instruction, workshops or community classes. Primary preference for the job seeker's learning style
will be accommodated.
Job Accommodations
Staff person will advise job seeker regarding ways to request a "reasonable accommodation" and suggestions to explore
accommodations at the job site which assist in performance of the job.
Referral Services
Staff person will help the job seeker identify other agencies or organizations that provide a more specialized
service and help the job seeker enroll for needed service.
Transportation Services
Staff person will help the job seeker identify and arrange the use of efficient, convenient and affordable transportation
to and from work.
Literacy Training
Staff person will help the job seeker identify and participate in remedial training or tutoring of language, math or reading
skills according to the desire of the job seeker's career goal.
SPECIALIZED SERVICES
Career Strategies
Staff person with specialized training will help the job seeker identify employment strengths and weaknesses, interests
and aptitudes and explore careers that provide the most satisfaction, yet accommodate the individual's disability.
Habilitation Services
Staff person with specialized training will help the job seeker identify service needs in "activities of daily
living" or "individual activities of daily living" related to the individual's ability to find and retain a work activity.
Staff person will help the job seeker develop a plan for meeting these needs.
Work Incentive Counseling and Peer Monitoring
Staff person with specialized training will help the job seeker learn about SSI/SSDI eligibility, work incentives,
benefit calculation and eligibility for Medicaid and Medicare. In a 5-day seminar, job seekers have an opportunity
to learn to manage the SSA benefit. Individualized SSA benefits counseling can be arranged.
