HOUSING
REFERRAL
LINK, Inc. maintains a list of accessible housing. We do
not operate a residential setting, but rather act as a referral
source for appropriate, accessible housing.
SUPPORT
GROUPS
LINK, Inc. encourages people with disabilities to learn from
each other in support groups. Groups include Head Injury Support
Group and Employment Empowerment Peer Support sponsored by
LINK. Other groups, not sponsored by LINK are also promoted.
DURABLE
MEDICAL EQUIPMENT
LINK, Inc. has a limited pool of durable medical equipment
for short-term loan to consumers or individuals in the public, such as wheelchairs, walkers,
etc. LINK will assist a consumer in locating new or used equipment and work with the appropriate
vendors to help obtain that equipment.
INTERPRETING
SERVICES
LINK, Inc. can provide sign language interpretating. LINK,
Inc. also works with other communication aids as needed, such
as use of TDD and relay service, use of picture or electronic
communication, etc. Interpreter services are available for
individuals whose primary language is sign language. Sign
language classes and deaf awareness workshops are available
to the communities in the LINK area and all of Western Kansas.
LINK, Inc. can also provide Spanish to English Interpretation.
BRAILLING
SERVICES
Living Independently in Northwest Kansas, Inc. offers braille transcribing services, giving individuals
and businesses the opportunity to have printed
material translated into braille.
COST
Braille transcribing is offered as a service to the community.
There is a fee of $2.00 per page and $30.00 per hour to cover the cost
for materials and staff time. If you are interested in accessing our

VOLUNTEER
OPPORTUNITIES FOR SELF-DEVELOPMENT
LINK, Inc. offers a variety of volunteer opportunities to
consumers interested in testing employment skills or simply
being involved with meaningful activity.
COMPUTER
GIVE-AWAY
LINK, Inc. promotes technology to people with disability for self-employment. Any person with a
disability may request a computer by simply writing a letter to LINK. The letter should include name, address,
phone number and a 25 to 50 word paragraph describing how the computer would be used to help the person with employment
seeking, personal development or advocacy on behalf or people with disabilities. If LINK has available a computer
(including monitor, mouse and keyboard), then the applicant will be notified and has to make arrangements to get the
computer. There is no charge for the computer.
This program relies upon individuals and businesses willing to donate computers. LINK will check the machine to
determine if it will boot up, but does not give any warranty or service to support the computer. LINK requests
that donated items be in working order and have the capacity for internet connection. Please contact LINK, if
you or your business would be willing to donate computers which are taken out of service.
TRANSPORTATION
LINK, Inc. partners with the ACCESS Van Program in Hays and Ellis County and assists
consumers to access public transportation systems throughout our service delivery area.
Partnering also with Western Kansas Association on the Concerns of the Disabled in helping
with the administration of a program grant through the United Way of Ellis County, WKACD
developed a program to help individuals wanting to work to gain access to
transportation through a ticket or voucher that will give them the ability to
get to and from work and become more productive citizens in their community with the goal of gaining
employment and independence.
This program partners with First Call for Help in helping to promote work and the ability to get to
work. It allows for assistance with getting gas vouchers to those who own vehicles and tickets to those who need
to be transported to work through ACCESS.
