INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS
LINK, Inc. helps people learn to live with their disability. There is no argument that "disability" changes the way a person lives.
One
disability advocate said it this way, "Before my disability, I used to do many activities standing up. Now,
I do everything sitting down."
Learning new ways to do the same activities is what "independent living skills" is all about.
The activity may be the same for everyone, but the methods used to perform the activity may be very different. LINK
works one to one with a person to help him or her
figure out how to adjust to the disability. It is a very individualized learning process. Learning
new methods for being self-reliant or more independent is the goal for developing independent living skills.
If your disability changed the way you managed your health, your home, your money, your time, or your relationships
and you are not satisfied with how you are doing now, give LINK a call and we'll help.
Independent Living Skills training might include:
Learning different methods of cooking or cleaning
Learning to monitor and direct your medical treatment

Learning to self-direct your in-home care attendant services
